Alzheimers Disease

As many of you know I lost my Grandfather, Jack Hart, to Alzheimers on September 19, 2009. He was an incredible man who touched the lives of all those he met.
During his life he was a member of many humanitarian groups including the Sertoma Club and the Friendship Force. In his death he continued helping others by donating his brain to Alzheimer's research.
My goal is to continue his vision. Please help to end this horrible disease that steals loved ones away one memory at a time by helping to fund the 2009 Memory Walk. Thank you.

My grandfather was diagnosed roughly 2 years ago with Alzheimer's. It was a devastating diagnosis for everyone, especially him. He started taking the medications available. He did really well for a while...
About a two months ago he started to slip. Forgetting words or how to make coffee. But he was still THERE. Still my grandpa.
Three weeks ago his wife Judy realized that she couldn't care for him at home any more. She found an amazing home for him with a wonderful nurse, Lucia, to take care of him.
He declined so quickly that it was tough for us to accept that the end was near. But today at 6:13 pm he passed into Glory with our Lord. It was peaceful and without pain. The man who taught me how to really live and enjoy life has now also taught me what it is to die with dignity.
Jack M Hart died on September 19th, 2009 at 6:13pm. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and so much more.
Thank you Grandpa for teaching me how to live life to the fullest. How to appreciate each and every day. How to love my family. I love you, and I'll miss you. Until we meet again.

This whole job situation is really pissing me off. I have graduated, kicked the NCLEX's ass, and obtained my license. I'm a registered nurse people! Now let me start working!
In a sense I'm thankful that I signed the three year contract with Iasis. They paid half my tuition and I'm to be employed by them. But they keep dragging ass and putting off my start date.
I'm sick. Some sort of death cold. Aches, runny nose, cough, sneezing, chills... let me tell ya, its just fantastic.
Ok, enough of my cheery update. :-p

Forever and a day...

I've been so busy with school that just about everything in my life has had to take a backseat. Its been really tough, but worth it. I graduate in November and soon after I'll be able to test for my license. It feels like a dream... being this close to completing school.
Starting Tuesday I start my 6th and last semester. I'll be doing what is called a preceptorship. Basically I work alongside an experienced RN for this semester. I'll learn as much as I can while taking aptitude tests every week. I know I'll be at Phoenix St. Luke's... but I'm not sure what unit I'll be on. I requested the medical surgical floor... or the PACU (post anesthesia care unit). I'm starting to think I'd really like the ICU or the ED.
So Trinity is going to this private school... they do these Stanford achievement tests at the end of each school year. She took it at the end of her Preschool year. Her scores were amazing! In reading, word recognition, and math she scored at the level of a first grader! Her listening/story telling skills are comparable to a second grader. Her Sounds and letters are at the tail end of what is taught in Kindergarten. I can't believe how bright she is! I'm told she'll be in the "high" class for Kindergarten this fall. I'm such a proud mommy!
Ok, I promised myself I'd get my room back in order during my week off and here I sit.

This is my first chance to post because I've been so busy. But I want to know what your memories of September 11th were.
I was trying to sleep in because it was my day off. For some reason I couldn't and ended up with a cup of strong coffee in my hand sitting on the couch dazed and confused. Tom came rushing into the apartment and said, "Turn on the TV!" I did, just in time to see the second tower hit. I felt ill. Confused, angry, sad, numb. I looked at Tom and asked, "Who would do this?" He had to go back to work shortly after. I remember crying. I was sitting by my phone, waiting to hear anything about my flight attendent friends and friends in New York.
We were going to celebrate my mom's b-day that night. She was born on the 11th. But we didn't.

Sometimes I feel like a horrible mother. I can't afford to buy my daughter a pair of new shoes. Or new Pjs. Or much of anything else she needs (with the exception of food).
Going to school full time is tough... but I may have to consider the possibility that Trinity and I won't be able to get by unless I work as well. I don't know how I'll manage being a mom, full time student, AND working...
I tend to sit here and mentally list all the things I need. New breaks for my car, total tune-up on my car, some summer clothes for me, new shoes for Trinity, some new clothes that she needs, money to pay back my parents for their help with my extra school crap.... so many things.
I dunno... I'm so stressed out about money I think it may be affecting my health. I've been feeling icky all day today. My back hurts again. I'm tired a lot.
Something is going to have to change...

So I'm at the point where I'm beyond caring if I piss people off or not. Not that I'm going to go around pissing off friends or random people or anything... let me explain. I need to vent anyway.
I go to Sadisco* each month. Its my once a month sanity keeper. I go, drink, mingle, dance and enjoy watching the debauchery around me.
Last night it was at Mardi Gras. They have a 21+ area and an area for those who aren't fortunate enough to drink legally in public.
My fiance's friend brought his underage girlfriend. Fine. But unfortunately her ID wasn't checked again at the door and she was given a 21+ wristband. So I'm ordering a chili bomber and I look up to see her trying to order a drink at the bar.
I loves my S* and don't want to risk not having it cause of a mistake. So I call over the bartender and say very sweetly,"You have an 18 year old with a wristband trying to order a drink over there." The guy flips out, I point her out and they boot her from the 21+ area.
My problem... I understand if you want to chill and have some drinks with your girlfriend. But if she's not 21, don't fucking bring her into the 21+ area of a club! Don't risk S*'s reputation cause you're pussy whipped or retarded or whatever. Oh... and don't date mules.
